Aluminum plate laser cutting: aluminum is a light and very versatile material that is highly appreciated in sheet metal manufacturing.

As regards the aluminum plate laser cutting we are able to cut sheet metal up to 4000 x 2000 mm and with a max. of 30 mm.

All metallic materials and alloys are highly reflective of light waves: this feature is the main problem that must be addressed during a laser-cut aluminum operation.

The reflection of the light beams by aluminum can cause serious damage to the laser machine, especially if the beam is reflected exactly at the point of emission (a sort of flashback): it is therefore absolutely necessary to have appropriate techniques designed to prevent the return of the laser beam at the point of emission.

In fact, in most cases, laser reflection is caused not only by the aluminum surface, but by the so-called “molten bath”, which is a quantity of molten material that forms at the exact point of contact of the laser with the surface for to cut: obviously an anti-reflective spray cannot solve the problem definitively.

The studies and the search for solutions are in constant progress, both by private companies and by official organizations, and aim to develop a guide for the optimal laser cutting of any possible material.

Currently, aluminum cutting is carried out using a high-power laser and a compressed gas technology: nitrogen and oxygen allow the precise modeling of a piece of aluminum or stainless steel material, avoiding excessive heating of the surface and areas subject to appearance heat.
